Neal’s Strong Start and Line-up Long List of Offensive Stars Power 6-4 Win

Neal’s Strong Start and Line-up Long List of Offensive Stars Power 6-4 Win

Dennis Neal delivered a strong start – five innings, two earned runs – and a menagerie of Diamonds provided the six runs to victory as Pittsburg defeated Sonoma 6-4.

Jose Garcia, who was 2 for 4 with a run scored, lead the offense and Gerald Bautista’s ninth inning home run provided insurance as Pittsburg moved back to .500 in the second half of the season and within two games of the first place Stompers.

Four Diamonds relievers followed Neal (3-4) to the mound holding the Stompers scoreless despite having the bases loaded in the eighth and two runners on in the ninth.

The Diamonds will have a chance to sweep the series when the two teams meet Thursday at 6 p.m. in Sonoma.
