Diamonds look to strike out hunger



DIAMONDS LOOKING TO STRIKE OUT HUNGER ON FOOD BANK NIGHT AUG. 5

            PITTSBURG – Pittsburg’s professional baseball team is partnering with its fans to help strike out hunger. Fans attending the Saturday, August 5 game against Vallejo are being asked to bring cans of non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

            The Diamonds will be donating half of the revenue from ticket sales for the game to the food bank.

            One in eight people in Contra Costa and Solano Counties turns to the Food Bank for emergency or supplemental food according to Food Bank statistics.

            “This is a great opportunity to partner with our fans to take on a serious issue while enjoying the family fun of Diamonds baseball,” said team owner Khurram Shah. “Fans are asked to bring cans of tuna or chicken, beans and lentils, jars of peanut butter, any kind of nutritious food.”
