Diamonds bats fall silent, winning streak ends with loss to Admirals

After averaging almost 12 runs over the previous five games, the Pittsburg Diamonds could only muster a single run on Thursday night, losing to the Vallejo Admirals 3-1.

Jose Garcia led off the first inning with a single and would come around to score on a single by Vinny Guglietti. But that was it for the Pittsburg offense.

Diamonds starter Corey MacDonald (2-2) came in to the game with the lowest earned run average in the Pacific Association and he pitched well but still took the loss.

Christopher De Leon (1-1) had faced tough times so far this year but he gave up only three hits and one run to take the win. Sammy Gervasio got his fourth save of the year.

The Diamonds travel to San Rafael on Friday to begin a four-game series.
